Such great heights in ATX.
Austin’s Mount Bonnell is one of the city’s oldest tourist attractions, it’s been documented as far back as 1850. It is the highest point within Austin City Limits and, according to everyone I’ve talked to, has the best 360 degree view of the city. So I figured it was time to take a hike, get some altitude, and take a few pictures.
A South Congress block party.
Location, location, location! I love my address because it ends with South Congress Avenue – I might not be in the heart of the Austin SoCo District, but I’m close enough to make it count. Every first Thursday of the month my street turns into a block party of food, fashion… and Austin wired-ness. Photos taken with the Camera Effects Android app, I think it’s one you can skip – I’m going back to my Retro Camera.

Midwest memento.
A little memento from my weekend trip home – good friends, a border war wedding and a photo booth reminded me why I love Missouri a lot more than I’ll ever remember to admit.

A South Congress Sunday
The past four weeks have been a whirlwind: graduation events, “business” in New York City, a 48 hour U-Haul road trip, a new job, a new apartment and a new city. I think I have a stock-pile of blog posts floating in my brain, but I think today is all about having a lazy Sunday on my new street, South Congress. It’s got some serious character…

My ode to timelapse videos.
I love timelapse videos (hence this previous post) – but this video is beyond love for me. The City That Never Sleeps provides us with gorgeous still images everyday, but no one still moment can define it. This timelapse combines thousands of still images and gets about as close as possible. I really should start calling this blog an “ode to New York City” I think…
Cover story.
Judge a book by its cover. Sometimes what is on the outside can be just as interesting as what is on the inside (or more interesting if it is a bad book). If you are searching for some good procrastination activity – check out the gallery for some fantastic blogs/websites dedicated to book cover design.

What the King of the beach says.
I read Vanity Fair for the interviews. It seems like when they go talk to a celeb or just some random guy on the street, usually VF reporters get something good and, more importantly, real to come out of their sources’ mouths.
I liked a recent interview by Bill Bradley done for the article Wavves: We May Sing About Smoking Pot, but My Mom Likes King of the Beach. In it lead-man for the Wavves, Nathan Williams, says…
“Every time you open your eyes in New York, you see a weird guy or a beautiful woman.”

With her nose stuck in a book.
“Featuring a book on your bookshelf is akin to displaying a trophy. You’ve accomplished something in reading a book; it feels like a victory. The opportunity to display your literary conquests in unique or unexpected ways is something I will greatly miss with e-readers.”
